My name is Sydney, and I am TheBackwardsOwl. First thing you should know about me is that I love Diet Coke. If I have a bad day I have to have a diet, preferably a fountain diet coke, it's better than the can for sure. Secondly, I love anything Disney. My family is always planning our next trip. As my uncle says "You're either at Disneyland or you're planning your next trip". There isn't a third option for us.

I recently received my diploma in fashion design and I am currently studying fashion merchandising. I also work as a freelance make-up artist on the side, having worked for Benefit and MAC cosmetics. I currently work as a fashion stylist for Keaton Row. This Blog is all about my favorite findings in the beauty and fashion world. 

I am a wife to my best friend, I call him Sammy. He was my younger sister's good friend in high school. They were actors and singers and I always did his make-up for the shows they were in together. My dad, also a make-up artist, would help do my sister's make-up especially if it involved more special effects. My sister convinced Sam and I to date the whole summer after they graduated high school, and now we're married! He was 19, and I was 21. Yes, I realize I am a cougar. 

I have three sisters, Cayton, Chelsea and Madison. I am the middle child. Chelsea and Cayton were twins. My sister Chelsea lost her battle with cancer and went to be with the Lord when she was only five years old. 

We have the most amazing parents who raised my sisters and I to appreciate one another and our times together. Our parents encouraged us to be creative and grow up to be anything we wanted to be. My sister Cayton became a photographer and a missionary with her husband, and my sister Madison, lives with her husband in Burbank, CA, where they work as actors and singers. The creativity gene was passed from our parents, my dad, is a make-up artist, a former professional clown, youth pastor, worked for NASA, ran for San Jose state with Bruce Jenner, you name it my dad has probably done it. My Mom has been a scrap booking director for a company for over 20 years. She will bring any image to life digitally or printed. She can make anything, especially food. She's a yummy cook. 

Together my parents also do marriage counseling and hilariously enough, they did ours before my sister and I got married. 

I think someday I will run an empire. Hire all my family members and we will have a crazy and creative fun time. Until then, I will blog.

3. My fashion icon is Zooey Deschanel. I am obsessed with her feminine style. New Girl is one of my favorite shows, and creepily, my husband is just like Nick!

4. If boots were more comfortable in the summer I'd wear them all year.
