August's BackwardsOwl Fashionista!

Kelsey Renee is this months BackwardsOwl Fashionista!  She is quirky and daring in her own style. She can make anything look amazing, from the thrift store to the department store, she can make any trend her own. That's what being a BackwardsOwl is all about.

Current Career: Make-up Artist For BareEssentials

What are your career goals?

When it comes to my career, my ambition and dream is to own a styling company called His & Hairs.  I dream of having a local shop nestled downtown in a pretty little city decked to the nines in rustic charm as well as have a mobile-remodeled-posh Airstream that I can work from. I think it’d be the dandiest thing to roll up to different Wedding Venues, Local Events & Beach Piers offering all kinds of beauty services.  I would also love to give my ability of beauty services generously to single mothers, the homeless, and men & women around the World that could use a little tender lovin’ hair care..

Favorite Clothing item that you own?

Ay-Yi –Yi…(tough question!) lately I’m all about my striped denim jacket. It seems to make every simple outfit spiced up with a fresh “too cool for school” kind of look. ;) 

What are some of your favorite styles to wear? 

My favorite styles and outfits are usually inspired by threads from Free People, Anthropologie, and Urban Outfitters. I love Earth tones to use for basics, and then dressing up my outfit with fun pieces bright and rustic. Some of those pieces are:  Scuffy boots, wedges,  fun scarfs, or oversized sweaters. To add some charm I love my chunky necklaces (especially turquoise ones J ) oh and of course bangles and rings on my fingas! ;)  

Favorite places to shop?

Free People, Anthropologie, UrbanOutfitters and of course THRIFT STORES. J

What do you think is unique about your style?

I believe my style reflects my personality….or at least I aspire it to. I fully believe in the idea that you can tell a lot about a person, by the way they dress. My hope is for people to be inspired by my style, and see that what appears on the outside is parallel to what my old soul looks like on the inside. 

P.S.- Kelsey forgot to mention her personal style is filled with mustaches...and it might run in her family.
