I recently interviewed Chevonne, owner and designer at Hollywoodtutu.
Her array of tutus for young girls,
are anywhere from characters to flower girl dresses.
If I had a little girl, I would have a few of these in their closet, and if you're like me,
you are going to wish that these came in adult sizes too. Her store caters to young princess everywhere and brides looking to make their flower girl exquisite.
"I love everything about weddings! I love the art of making flower girl tutu dresses or making that perfect little princess tutu dress costume for your little princess! All my dresses are made in a smoke free/pet free studio."- Chevonne , owner and designer of Hollywoodtutu
BWO: What's the name of your shop and where/who did you get the name from?
HTT: The name of my store is Hollywoodtutu, coming to the US from South Africa the first city I lived in was Los Angeles. I was so taken back with all the unique and different kinds of fashion, making tutu dresses for little girls was something I become so passionate about . My husband blurted it out " How about Hollywoodtutu,"and I love it!

BWO: Tell me about yourself and how you got started with your store?
HTT: It all started about three Halloweens ago. My daughter was two at the time and my husband....well, let's just say he makes a perfect Fred! Finding out just how expensive buying themed costumes from stores are, I elected to make Flinstone costumes for my husband, daughter and myself.I am not one to toot my own horn, but the costumes where a stash hit! After that, I realized that, making these costumes and flower girl dresses were not that different. I realized soon after, making these dresses touched me unbelievably. Over the next couple years, my skills enhanced to the point where family, friends and sometimes even total strangers would want one of my dresses. Today I make princess theme dresses, birthday dresses, flower girl dresses and flower girl headbands.
"I realized soon after, making these dresses touched me unbelievably"BWO: What is your favorite piece you have created?
HTT: I love all the dresses however my flower girl dresses are still my favorite .
BWO: What do you want your customers and future customers to know about Hollywoodtutu?
HTT: The aspect of my tutu dresses that my followers, admirers' and hopeful customers to know, is the love and passion I put into every single dress that I make. Every dress that I make is handmade and I will never start working on another dress until the one I am working on is 100% to my satisfaction. I make every one of my dresses as though my daughter was going to be wearing it to her own function.
BWO: Do you offer any discount codes for future customers to know about?
HTT: I think it is important in any successful business to reward your customers with the occasional sale. For me, that could range with anything to 10-15% off one of my dresses to free shipping. I have been rewarded with a number of international orders over the past couple years, and will even go so far as to discount their international shipping costs. The reward for me is to know that little girls (not only domestically,) but internationally are wearing hollywoodtutu!
Hollywoodtutu can be found on Etsy, facebook and twitter.
They also accept custom orders.
I hope you enjoyed getting to know Chevonne and her boutique Hollywoodtutu, and feel the need to buy each dress for every little girl you know. They make a unique gift, and it allows you to shop and support a small and local business. Chevonne, her husband and daughter currently reside in Charleston, South Carolina.
