TheBackwardsOwl: All about C&I merchandiser Brooke

BWO: Tell me about yourself, your name, where are you from?

My name is Brooke Smith. I am originally from Fremont CA (East Bay Area). I moved to Chico in 2006 to attended Chico State and after I graduated I loved Chico so much that I didn't leave.

BWO: How did you get your start as a Merchandiser for Chloe & Isabel?

I started with C+I in September 2012, barely a year ago. I was looking for something else to do beside my full time job, and I actually came across their Pinterest Page, and I fell in love with their jewelry, and I started to read about the Company and their mission I wanted to be apart of it. I also thought it was really cool that the Founder and CEO Chantel Waterbury is originally from Red Bluff.

BWO: What are you career goals either within Chloe & Isabel, or any industry at all?

C+I has great growth opportunities and they love to see their Merchandisers grow. In addition to being a merchandiser I also work full time as the Sales Manager for the two Marriott properties in Chico. So right now I am just doing C+I on the side, and wherever it takes me, I'll go.

BWO: What are some of the fun perks of working for Chloe & Isabel?

The jewelry is the biggest perk of course, but I think something else that I love is the people I have met while doing C+I. I have an amazing mentor and some of the other women that sell the jewelry have done some amazing things too. I love that I am able to do something that I enjoy, I love shopping and it has been great to help people shop. I also love the perks that we offer to people who host Pop Ups. There are a ton of contests and perks each month, and on top of that people that host a Pop Up get free jewelry too!

BWO: What is your favorite piece you own from Chloe & Isabel?

One of my favorite pieces and my best sellers is the Retro Glam Torsade. It can dress up anything and it is gorgeous on anyone. I also am obsessed with all our deco items because they remind me of the Great Gatsby.

BWO: If you were a fruit what would you be and why?

I thought about this one for a really long time, and I'm still having a hard time coming up with an answer! I think I'm going to go with a pineapple. First they are the universal sign for hospitality. Also they are not exactly what they seem. They have tough outside, and you have to work a little through it to get to the sweet center.

BWO: What song would be the soundtrack to your life? Like, If I saw you on the street what song would start playin?

My favorite band is Mumford & Sons and I'd like to think that their music plays my entire life a little bit. My favorite song by them is Awake My Soul.

BWO: What is your style, favorite outfits or accessories you're totally into right now?

I have been obsessed with mint for the past 6 months, I seriously cannot get enough it. I also definitely jumped on the chambray shirt bandwagon as well. It so easy to wear with black denim, and add some jewelry to dress it up!
